A milestone in the history of technical diving for Greece


Hellas Underwater Explorers - George Petrou in 2001 assumed the representation of the organizations TDI (Technical Diving International) and SDI (Scuba Diving International). This event was an important milestone for the development, evolution and establishment of technical diving in Greece.

TDI/SDI were and continue to be a very important educational part of diving education worldwide, pioneering the field of technical diving.

This historic move laid the foundation for today's technical diving teaching in Greece, as Hellas Underwater Explorers/George Petrou offered the full range of diving certifications from simple Open Water Diver to Open Water Diving Instructor, from Basic Nitrox diver to Advanced Trimix Diver, and from Cave Diver-Instructor to CCR Rebreather Diver/Instructor.

It is the first time that fundamentals in diving have been introduced with basic elements:

  1. High-quality practical training without compromise
  2. Comprehensive, methodical and analytical theoretical training

  4. Πλήρη Υλικοτεχνική υποστήριξη
  5. Dives to gain experience mainly in diving technique


Hellas Underwater Explorers, with instructor of instructors George Petrou, certified many scuba divers and instructors for both recreational and technical diving.

This representation was a milestone for the diving community and for the evolution of diving in Greece, as it introduced methods and techniques that had never been presented in Greece until then and which remain in the spotlight to this day.

Hellas Underwater Explorers - George Petrou, as representatives of TDISDI, held many free seminars - presentations throughout Greece with the aim of developing technical diving primarily.

Κατά την διάρκεια των περίπου δέκα χρόνων της αντιπροσώπευσης η εξερευνητική ομάδα των Hellas Underwater Explorers - Γιώργος Πέτρου είχε μεγάλες επιτυχίες στην εξερεύνηση σπηλαίων, βαθιές καταδύσεις με μικτά αέρια καθώς και Ναυαγιοκαταδύσεις. Υπήρξε πολύ μεγάλη επένδυση σε διαφημιστικές δραστηριότητες όπως στο περιοδικό Greek Diver όπως και συμμετοχή σε εκθέσεις όπως Natex, Κυνήγι Ψάρεμα Κατάδυση, DEMA, Dive Show Birmingham και άλλες.

The sale of the organizations by the Founder Mr. Brett Gilliam to the next owner unfortunately also meant the termination of this cooperation because the new owner broke all contracts and the new terms were both unprofitable and the organization's support to the representatives was insufficient. Today TDISDI is not active in our country.
